Portfolio of Works

Contemporary African and African-Americans are frequently the subjects of my paintings. Their faces, filled with life, reveal the story of how they became who they are. For each portrait, I have written a comment about the subject and what I saw in the person's character.

I chose to paint Indians in everyday clothing to capture the spirit of the individual. Spending several months a year in Northern New Mexico surrounded by the culture of different tribes has had a strong influence on my work. The description provided for each print tells the story behind each portrait--why I painted it and what I wanted to convey.
